“Grief is a dance. Documentary is a dance.
People who cry while having fun.
People who want to go home while having fun.
People whose homes collapse while having fun.
We dance. Everyone, gather around.”

On November 2nd, the photography webzine DUMMYDUMPYIMAGE will host an event at MODECi. DUMMYDUMPYIMAGE is a magazine that seeks to restore the missing links in Korean photographic discourse, archiving photographers’ works and non-works, jokes, and research. The event is both a party and an exhibition inspired by the classical method of mourning—a boisterous ceremony of laughter and dance in the face of sorrow.

The exhibition features the works of nine photographers who capture the essence of the times we live in. These include Sung Nam-hoon (b. 1963), who has documented global conflicts, migration, and the lives of refugees for over 30 years, and Lee Joo-sang (b. 2003), known for his sharp and raw depictions of urban landscapes, subcultures, and his friends. Additionally, the moving-image community Sori-Grim will screen two carefully selected films. The party will also feature eight local DJs who effortlessly traverse a variety of genres. (…)
